Laura Driscoll is a master's student at Stanford University, and a native of the San Francisco area. Her M.A. research is on the cultural effects of tourism to indigenous communities' lands in the rain forest region of southeastern Peru. Her undergraduate work began in new world archaeology and took a wonderfully long and winding path toward ecological anthropology and sustainability. She has interned at Yellowstone National Park, examined the commercial forestry industry in Northern California, and created colorful brochures and publicity materials for CESD. Her interests include social and environmental justice, arts, music, travel, and all things anthropological. She hopes to transition to the non-profit sector after completing her thesis, where she can use her skills and experience to conquer social and environmental issues around the world.

Karissa Hazy is a senior at Stanford University from Los Angeles. She is completing a major in Human Biology, with a concentration in International Health and Development. Through studying abroad in Queensland, Australia, she was able to cultivate an interest in responsible travel through an extensive research project on ecotourism certification. She has spent her summers volunteering in rural health clinics in India and working in the hospitality industry in Indonesia. She has worked closely with a Los Angeles-based Foundation, and has extensive international travel experience - she is excited to merge these two interests in her work with CESD's Travelers Philanthropy program.

Therin Jones is an intern with CESD. She was born and raised in Nashville (an origin that justifies her love of country music), but her family home has been in Chicago since 1999. From 2003-2005, she completed an International Baccalaureate Degree at the United World College of the Atlantic in Wales, an international school concerned with sustainable, peaceful lifestyles. She currently pursues a B.A. in Science, Technology, and Society with a technical literacy in Earth Systems at Stanford University. Her career goals include ecotourism or environmental law/legislation.

Carolyn Mansfield is working with Dr. Wolfgang Strasdas researching how travel companies present environmental problems, specifically carbon emissions from transportation, to their customers. She is a junior in Anthropological Sciences at Stanford, with hopes to go on to a coterminal master's degree in Anthropology as well. She is particularly interested in ecotourism certification and accreditation in Latin America, and spent last summer interning in an environmental NGO in Argentina working on ecotourism promotion and development.
